In the early 20th century, Adam Meies (1887–1977), a materials scientist and professor at Stuttgart University, received a remarkable request from his close friend — a pianist at the Vienna Royal Academy of Music.
The pianist, extraordinarily sensitive to noise, longed for a home elevator that would not disturb his music. Meies accepted the challenge. After extensive research and prototyping, he succeeded in creating the world's first low-noise residential elevator — and in doing so, founded the Meies home elevator brand with "silence" as its defining principle.
In 1934, the Vatican sought an elevator for its Baroque architecture — one that would preserve the building's integrity while harmonizing with its style. Meies prevailed among European competitors, earning the reputation as "the home elevator most favored by European butlers" and establishing itself as a royal household brand.
